Here is the last bit on foul play

This is the conclusion to the foul play series.  These are usually fun to look at so they may be revisited in the not so distant future.

I hope this is to stir up a bit more discussion.  As this is a class project I find it a lot easier for others to do the work for me.  So, here I pose the question for discussion and if you have an opinion either way do me a favor and let me know it.

So have a look at the end of the play where the white team’s scrum half is in the midst of a tackle and a brief upward movement with his knee.  Referees are not to judge intent but to judge fact.

Do you think that if the referee was solely judging the incident, was a yellow card warranted.

I wish I knew more about the game so I would know what you are talking about—-whats a yellow card??

The Yellow-card is the piece of paper that paddy shows the White #9 at the end. It’s, well, a card, and it’s yellow…not really much more you can say about that.

So, back to the incident. Sweet lord, he really buried himself in it, didn’t he!? He’s got the advantage, near the goal-line, and then after the whistle knees the kid in the head…

My first thought was actually more cards…You’re already playing advantage near the goal-line, and then you have a french player dive like a fighter-pilot over the ruck-thing, and then another one kept holding on to White #9 after the whistle, for which he got a knee to the head for his troubles…

I’d probably YC the French (maybe even the kid who got the knee) for deliberately slowing it down near the goal-line. These kids looked like they weren’t listening at all and were committed a slew of offences.

The White #9 is a joke. I’d give him the Red. I remember Steve Walsh doing something similar in the 6 Nations 2 yrs ago, and it was the right thing at the time. The Frenchman should not have been anywhere near the #9, but the #9 shouldn’t have retaliated…

What to tell the captains? Is there anything worth saying at this point? You’ve hopefully had a few words earlier about this, and now you’re delivering on your promise b/c they didn’t deliver on theirs…Such a pity!
